George Hicks' Lesson on How to Handle Pressure

I thought I would share a 3 minute audio excerpt from George Hicks, a then 38 year-old reporter standing on a D-Day warship as the loud battle rages on in the background.

It is noteworthy on a few levels - examples of calmness under pressure, communication, grit, and storytelling. There is historical significance to the method of this original recording - there is only one device in existence and working, and how it came to survive. That is a separate story.

In the greater recording and when it appears that George is becoming slightly overwhelmed he states,

“If you’ll excuse me, I’ll just take a deep breath for a moment and stop speaking.”

Pretty good advice especially today!
